I've seen players act friendly right up until extraction. That uncertainty gives the game its edge. You're not just reading the map. You're reading people, and people are usually harder to predict.

Even after a rough loss, there's something about the loop that drags you back in. Maybe it's the chance of a cleaner run. Maybe it's the thought that next time you'll leave five minutes earlier and actually make it out. The underground base helps too, since crafting and upgrades give each run a bit more purpose than just surviving.
