John Klingberg has found a long-term home in the heart of Texas. The Stars rookie defenseman has signed a seven-year contract extension with the team after arecord-setting season, general manager Friday. The Swedish native started theseason in the AHL afterundergoingadouble hip surgery last summer. He earned12 points in 10 games before rising to the the Stars' roster. Klingbergestablished new Stars records for most goals, a sists and points in a single season by a rookie defenseman. He ledall Stars defensemen in scoring and was third on the team in plus-minus at plus-5. Klingberg led all NHLrookie defensemenin a sists (29) and points (40), and was second in goals (11). Hefinished fourth in a sists, seventh in points and seventh in even-strength points (28) among all rookies, additionally ranking third with an average21:50 of ice time per game in 65 appearances.
