He ended up turning his body, perhaps to regain his balance, but as that happened he took an impact from Bruins defenseman . Smith twisted into the boards and fell to the ice awkwardly. He ended up landing face-first.It didnt look good as Smith could not keep his feet under him as he tried to get back to the Maple leafs bench. Play was halted and he received immediate medical attention. It appeared that his visor may have cut him on the face, causing a good amount of blood leaking from him onto his jersey and the face shield.On first glance, it looked like it could have been a boarding penalty on Chara, but the replays showed that the referees probably got it right by not i suing a penalty to the Bruins captain. There wasnt much Chara could do there as Smiths imbalance put him in the prone position. Chara had already committed to the hit and Smith did just release the puck as contact was made. Its a scary scene that you hate to see, but it looks more like one of those hockey plays gone wrong due to some poor timing and some unfortunate body positioning.
