The lightweight, hollow spherical particles known as Cenospheres are a unique functional filler derived from coal‐combustion fly ash, characterised by a ceramic shell composed primarily of silica and alumina and filled with inert or air gas, making them exceptionally low in density yet strong and stable under load. In concrete and construction materials, cenospheres enable the creation of lightweight aggregates or filler systems that reduce dead weight, improve fire resistance and insulation performance, enhance workability and reduce shrinkage or cracking. Production and supply of cenospheres involve recovery from ash ponds or fly-ash streams, processing, drying and classification according to size, density and purity.
