Belarus defeated United States 5-2 on Thursday to take the led in Group B at the Ice Hockey World Championships. It was Belarus' first win over USA and saw it move to 10 points after four games, one more than Finland, USA and Ru sia. Artur Gavrus, Artyom Volkov and Alexander Kitarov gave Belarus a 3-0 lead, before Brock Nelson pulled one back for the Americans. Alexei Kalyuzhny scored either side of Torey Krug's reply to round off the scoring. The U.S. won its first three games and was coming off Monday's 4-2 win over Ru sia. "It's a letdown after the Ru sia game," Team USA's Jack Eichel said. "That was Bradley Beal Jersey an emotional win but every game means a lot so this is a tough one to take. "We just let them have too much po se sion. We had a couple of mishaps in the offensive zone that led to them getting odd-man breaks and they took advantage of that." Belarus goalie Kevin Lalande, who was born in Canada, made key saves against the Americans. "They came after us early but Lalande made some timely saves," said Belarus coach Dave Lewis, a former NHL player who coached the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins. "We did not settle into game until the second period." Team USA has three games left in group play in the Czech Republic: Denmark (Friday), Slovenia (Sunday) and Slovakia (Tuesday). All games will be televised by NBC Sports Network and NBC Sports Live Extra. Elsewhere in Group B, Finland defeated Slovenia 4-0.
