Traditional systems based on copper compounds or biocides are increasingly challenged by newer formulations—self-polishing copolymers, non-leaching surfaces, and hybrid coatings offering improved longevity and reduced environmental footprint. In parallel, requirements for faster shipyard application, longer service life between dry-docks and better compatibility with modern hull materials (composites, aluminium, steel hybrids) add further pressure on coating developers.
